Bhringaraj is considered an important Ayurvedic herb for rejuvenation. As a rejuvenative tonic, it is used both internally and externally for optimal hair and skin care. Its name literally means the ruler of the hair, and is therefore traditionally associated with healthy hair growth, luster, hair strength and prevention of premature greying. According to the energetic principles of Ayurveda, Bhringaraj is bitter, pungent and sweet in the Rasa taste energy, cooling in action according to Virya and balancing for all three constitutions such as Vata, Pitta and Kapha doshas, with a particularly balancing effect for Pitta.
